Social Darwinism and Aryan Superiority
Recovery of the Will.
Germanic Unity
- Hitler was a strong believer that the strong should rule over the weak. The strong would survive and prosper while the weak would perish or be the servants of the strong.
- "Rights abide in strength alone"
- Hitler believed that the Aryan race was the strongest and most advanced. It therefore is expected that they would rule over the weaker nation, particularly the Slavs.
Recovery of the Will.
- Hitler saw life as a struggle where the strong eventually overpower the weak. To Hitler, his beloved Germany had been weakened but must now become strong again and that will involve overpowering the weak.
- Hitler aimed to restore German greatness at the expense of inferior peoples, most particularly the Slavs to the east.
- Quote: "The Nazi slogan, 'Germany Awake' was intended to be a rallying call for a humiliated and weakened nation to rediscover its glorious past" (Welch, D.)
Germanic Unity
- This was the idea that Germans from all over Europe should be gathered together and united under German rule.
- “One people into one empire, ruled by one leader.” (Elliot)
